Greystar has appointed a managing director of UK development to lead its build-to-rent (BTR) and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) strategies.

The investor, developer and manager of rental housing has appointed Thomasin Renshaw as its managing director of UK development.
Ms Renshaw will be responsible for leading Greystar’s UK development strategy across BTR and PBSA. She will report to Daniel Breeden, the company’s UK senior managing director.
She previously served as chief development officer at Pocket Living, overseeing its pipeline of London schemes including Sheepcote Road in Harrow and Atlas Wharf in Old Oak.
Ms Renshaw’s earlier roles include working at Grosvenor and Muse Developments, where she established a track record in regeneration and public-private partnership, working with local authorities and institutions to unlock development opportunities such as the South Molton Triangle in Mayfair.
Greystar’s 16-person UK development team is currently delivering several rental housing schemes, including the first homes at the 1,600-home Pearl Yard in Bermondsey, as well as Greenford Quay, Momento Hayes and Canvas Wembley, which are all now fully operational.
Greystar UK is one of the country’s largest rental housing platforms, with more than 130 assets comprising over 51,000 BTR flats and PBSA beds.
It entered Europe in 2013 and now operates in eight countries, with around £16.5bn in assets under management in the region.
Ms Renshaw said: “There is a clear national need for more rental homes, and institutional developers have a vital role in delivering them.
“Greystar has the platform, capital and operational expertise to bring forward new housing at pace.
“My focus is on strengthening our pipeline and working with landowners, local authorities and communities to deliver well-designed homes in places where demand is greatest.”
Mr Breeden said: “The UK cannot address its housing shortage without partners who can deliver at scale and with certainty.
“Strengthening our development leadership ensures Greystar is ready to move quickly on land opportunities and work with public and private landowners to unlock new housing.
“Thomasin’s experience in regeneration and partnership delivery will support our aim to bring more professionally managed rental homes to market and contribute meaningfully to the national effort to increase supply.”
